about

Dragon’s Eye Recordings is pleased to welcome Carbon In Prose to the imprint with the release of SALT WATER BLOOD, an ode to our earth and its oceans, as well as a plea for forgiveness in light of the damage our species has caused them.

Crafted from eurorack modular synthesis, field recordings and piano, the nine songs on SALT WATER BLOOD meditate on the juxtaposition of our human mortality and the earth’s cosmic longevity. Our planet and its ecosystems may be damaged and bleeding from our abuse of them, but it’s humankind that will suffer the most as a result of it. We engender our own suffering, and that grief-filled truth hums shadowlike throughout the records drones and murmurations.

Both melancholic and reverential, SALT WATER BLOOD reflects the human longing to become everlasting against the backdrop of the earth’s expansiveness. Water rushes through the background of each song, reminding us of both its perpetual presence and continual dissipation. It is at once the element that makes us human, as well as the symbol of the earth’s undoing — sea levels, tsunamis, droughts — reminding us that what we do to the earth, we inevitably inflict upon ourselves.
